ABOUT
Nearly every time Ms. Kelly takes her son, William, for a walk, they find at least one 4-leaf clover. After a year and half of presenting each clover to him and telling him to make a wish, William began asking, “Why?” Inspired by her toddler son’s desire for an answer—Why do you get to make a wish when you find a 4-leaf clover? Why are they lucky?—Ms. Kelly has written a tale that will fire your child’s imagination.
Using traditional Irish and leprechaun folklore as the foundation of her story, Ms. Kelly has created a whimsical, magical link between 4-leaf clovers and leprechauns that will appeal to families from every background. The book also engages your child in a fun way to learn numbers, colors, and other early-reader skills. Lovingly illustrated by the Brandywine River Valley artist, Pamela J. Smyers, 4-Leaf Clovers will captivate your child’s imagination and be treasured by generations.

WORDS AND ART
Why is finding a 4-leaf clover lucky?
Stephanie M. Kelly
Stephanie M. Kelly was born and spent her childhood in Wilmington, Delaware. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992 with a B.S. in Economics and a B.A. in English, she worked in Paris, France, in Accounting, and then on Wall Street from 1994 through 2009, analyzing real estate investment trusts (“REITs”). She currently works at a publicly traded REIT in Columbia, Maryland. In between retiring from Wall Street and joining her current firm, she authored REIT Roadmap (2nd edition published in 2012 under her maiden name, Krewson).
Ms. Kelly met her husband, Matthew, at a Philadelphia Phillies baseball game in 2010 and their son, William, was born in 2012. She and William enjoy walks every weekend during which they have found hundreds of four-leaf clovers.
Pamela J. Smyers
Pamela J. Smyers grew up in the Brandywine Valley of Pennsylvania surrounded by Andrew
Wyeth’s paintings—always pondering their hidden meanings. She has studied art since childhood and has always felt a kinship to artists’ need to create, to express their inner emotions, and to stir the emotions of others. Her medium of choice is acrylic paint on wood panels—lightly stippling (layering) washes of color on top of one another to allow all the applied colors to emerge. Pamela studied under Brandywine Valley Artist, Karl Kuerner. She is currently represented by various galleries in Pennsylvania and has exhibited work in galleries and juried exhibitions throughout Pennsylvania and Delaware. She lives in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania with her husband, two wonderful daughters, and a crazy cat and dog who make their premier appearance in this book. Pamela would like to dedicate these works to her mom, who’s help provided Pamela with the time needed to illustrate this book, to her husband, Jim, who makes it possible for her to pursue her dream and to Karl Kuerner who taught, mentored, and always believed in her.
